Schiphol desk
Carlson Wagonlit Travel uses the Aviapartner/Holland Handling desk in the central departure
hall opposite desk row 9. The desk is staffed by Aviapartner/Holland Handling employees and is
open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In case of emergencies (such as a missed flight) Aviapartner/Holland Handling can contact your CWT booking office to make modifications and possibly organize a new reservation. Aviapartner/Holland Handling can also arrange for the issue of other travel documents, for example a visa you have applied for that can be sent from the embassy to the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol service desk at the last minute.
Latest arrival and/or departure times at Amsterdam Airport
Schiphol
If you are going to drop off or collect someone at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol you can view
the latest arrivals and departures in real time on the
Schiphol website. You can
also sign up for an email service giving you details of a specific flight.
Check-in facilities
With most airlines you can check in online, saving you a lot of valuable time. Of course if
you prefer you can still check in at a check-in desk at the airport, or at a check-in machine for
some airlines.
For more information on check-in facilities and conditions, please check the website of the airline you will be flying with.
NB: If you are not sure if you will be traveling on a particular flight, we advise you not to check in beforehand. It is difficult to change flights after check-in.
Baggage regulations and conditions
Hand baggage
The worldwide safety regulations for hand baggage have been tightened up considerably in
recent years.
Read
more. Download the
brochure
to read about the rules that apply to, for example, carrying liquids in your baggage and hand
baggage.
Checked-in baggage
The maximum free baggage allowance is generally 23 kg per baggage item. However, a growing
number of airlines make charges for this, particularly in the lower price categories. The allowed
number of items of checked-in baggage will be stated in the ‘baggage allowance’ box on your ticket.
For travels to and from the USA we advise you not to lock your checked-in baggage, because any
damage caused during security checks will not be reimbursed. For the latest information regarding
checked-in baggage, see the website of the relevant airline.
Prohibited baggage
Various regulations apply to prohibited hand baggage and checked-in baggage. You can check
these regulations on the website of the relevant airline. For example, passengers traveling to and
from China and the USA are not allowed to carry lighters or matches in their hand baggage or
checked-in baggage. In addition, customs officers in the USA are authorized to check documents,
computers, disks, hard drives and other electronic or digital carriers at border controls, and
retain them for further investigation if necessary. You can find more specific information on hand
baggage and checked-in baggage regulations for traveling to or from the USA on the
Transportation Security
Administration
website.
Address details on suitcase
It is a good idea to state your accommodation address at your destination on the address
label on your suitcase. You can download a ready-to-use suitcase label

Importing goods from countries outside the EU
Travelers by plane or boat who have purchased goods in a country outside of the EU can import goods tax free up to a value of €430. This includes all goods bought at the airport. If this permitted amount is exceeded, import duties have to be paid on the goods over this amount. Read more on the Dutch Customs Administration website.
EU ordinance on the import and export of large sums of
money
Travelers carrying more than €10,000 in cash when entering or leaving the European Union must
report this to the customs authorities. Customs officers have the right to check travelers and
their baggage for this purpose. Cash in excess of €10,000 will be seized, and measures will be
taken against travelers who violate this ordinance.
Taxi to airport
You can reserve your taxi to or from most major airports in the Netherlands, Belgium and
Germany
here. You can also calculate the approximate taxi costs from the airport to your destination
address.

Flying safely according to EU standards - 'Flywell'
The safety reputation of air travel within the European Union (EU) is among the best in the
world. The EU and its member states work continuously with safety authorities in other countries to
raise safety standards worldwide. However, there are still some airlines that do not meet the
required safety levels. These airlines are not permitted to operate in European airspace. You can
find a list of airlines that have been identified as operating in conditions below essential safety
levels on the
EU website.
